Freudian and Jungian psychological theories have dominated the counselling scene globally for almost 100 years. Over recent years, however, many psychology theorists and therapists are challenging and rejecting the validity of many of their diverse concepts on the nature of man and the methodologies of change that they have proclaimed. Nonetheless, Freud and Jung still have a very strong foundational and historical voice in guiding the ongoing development of psychology today.

However, more and more psychological theories are now embracing a wide range of differing "spiritual truths" which has made for a great confusion of conflicting ideologies! Jungian analytical psychology has now become synonymous, for example, with ancient mystery religions, gnosticism and shamanism (witchcraft). Freudian conceptology is a mish-mash of conflicting Greek mythological thought, sanitised in "scientific" terminology. Pop-psychotherapy gains most of its new age ideas from Hinduism. Cultural psychology has at its roots the historical and religious dogmas of individual cultures as a backdrop to interpreting state of mind and behaviour.

And yet, little or no attention has been made of the extensive conceptology of Biblical Psychology. Most churches have either gone the way of the worldly philosophies, or, have made compromising marriages with humanistic psychology and reductionistic Biblical concepts. Others have majored only on the very limited and practical Mind and Will dynamics. Whilst others have excessed on supernaturalism in the counselling ministry and have often ended up in the occult.

Pinpoint School of Biblical Counselling has spent the last 20 years constructing extensive Biblical doctrines to establish Biblical Psychology, and, the practical and supernatural dynamics of Christ’s healing power to minister to the broken of heart, wounded in spirit & bewildered in mind. Pastor Anderson’s breakthrough conceptology of the "Devices of the Heart", is but one of the extensive areas where Biblical Truth has been unveiled as being much much more than just competing with vain worldly philosophies!

Proverbs 1:22 states "..How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?..". Biblical Counselling being composed of Biblical Psychology, the Spirit of Counsel, and, Healing the brokenhearted, necessitates learning far more than "5 steps to overcome......"!! Much of christian counselling is reductionistic and is dangerously simplistic! However, true Biblical Counselling whilst comprehensive and extensive in its doctrines, isn’t unlearnable and doesn’t take 20 years to become proficient. Obviously preparation for this ministry does involve serious study, yet the impact it has on damaged lives is well worth all the effort.
